Annual Golf Tournament

This years annual golf tournament was held on May the 5th, 2017. The tournament is sponsored by to Alexander Police Department and benefits both the Boys and Girls Club of the Lake Martin Area and the D.A.R.E & S.A.F.E programs of Alexander City. Around ... was raised.

Annual Rodeo

It was a buckin’ good time this past Father’s Day weekend at the 12th Annual Lake Martin Area Rodeo benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of the Lake Martin Area. It was held at the Alex City Horse Riding Arena in the Charles E. Bailey Sportsplex on June 15th and June 16th. From food and merchandise vendors to a Lil’ Buckaroo's area with a petting zoo, there was something for the entire family. There was a greased pig contest for the children. Bice Motors/Dodge Ram was the sponsor for this event. 

J Bar K Rodeo Company hosted 2 nights of family fun and entertainment with cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Southeast participating in barrel racing, calf roping, team roping, and of course, bull riding.   The event raised $22,974 for the Boys & Girls Club, which will be used for programming expenses for the upcoming fall school year.

Clay Shoot

     The 12th Annual Ronald Koon Sporting Clay Classic raised $14,855.00 this year. This event  continues to be a great event bringing

together corporate businesses, small businesses, friends and families.

     This event is one Ronald Koon, past board member, helped start

during his tenure on the board. Kim Anderson, Ann Koon, Randy Anderson, and Keith Koon have continued with the legacy of this event. Kim Anderson stated, “It’s an honor to keep on with this event and to serve as a board of directors member in my dad’s seat.” “He truly loved the kids and this organization,” stated Keith Koon.

     On Friday night, before the shoot, Randy Anderson took the helm by standing in as the event auctioneer with the help of Jeremy Jeffcoat from Lake Martin Broadcasting. With the two’s help, the team auction was a success, raising over $3,215.00.

     “The proceeds from the shoot will be utilized to help with

programming fees and scholarships for the upcoming 2018 summer program,” stated Melissa Reynolds, CEO. “Members of the Club are offered

diversified programs that are established according to the Youth

Development Strategy.
